AN ISLAND GIRL AT HEART
Gianna was raised on the island of Oahu in Hawaii with her parents and younger brother, Dante. As an extremely diverse mixing pot of cultures, ethnic backgrounds, languages, and perspectives, Gianna grew up in one of the most unique places in the world. She fully embraced the island life and all of the beach hopping, trailblazing, and adventuring that came with it.
MAUKA TO MAKAI
Grateful for the unique scenery and diversity of landscapes on the small island, Gianna made the most of her childhood growing up. Her environment fostered her passion for being outdoors and playing different sports. Spending her free time by the ocean or in the mountains, Gianna learned to appreciate nature in new ways, as well as use it as an outlet to release stress and maintain balance in her life.
FROM KAILUA TO SAN DIEGO
Upon graduating from Le Jardin Academy in 2019 as class Valedictorian, recipient of both the International Baccalaureate and General Education Diplomas, tri-sport Varsity athlete since Freshman year, and awardee of 11 subject awards of Academic Excellence, Gianna decided to continue her academic and athletic career at the University of San Diego. After all, she couldn’t go anywhere far from the beach and sunny weather.
ADVENTURES IN SPORTS
Gianna chose USD for their highly ranked business programs, ideal location, and excellent study abroad opportunities. However, her relative successes in high school athletics also earned her the opportunity to walk on to USD’s Division I XC and Track team. Gianna grew to become the only freshman and one of seven runners selected to represent USD at the Regional XC Championship Race. The following year, she ran number one for USD in XC, placing 10th in the West Coast Conference Championships and being the first Torero in history to qualify for the NCAA National Championships. COMBINING CREATIVITY & STRATEGY
Aside from her commitment to sports, Gianna is a very career driven person. She currently has goals of double majoring in Marketing and Business Management, as well as double minoring in Entrepreneurship and Film. With an expected graduation date of May 2023, these interests enable her to combine her passions for creativity with data analysis and strategic thinking.
